SPARCknit! A fab, fun, fundraiser for SPARC.

A couple of us at SPARC were talking about how to celebrate Small Charity Week, which runs from 11th to 15th June. We were trying to come up with an idea that would involve everyone involved with SPARC and help ro raise our profile in the local community. Once we realised that this coincided with World Wide Knit In Public Week a plan started to come together and SPARCknit was born!

There are lots of people at SPARC who are into their knitting (and crochet!) – service users, volunteers and staff alike – so a sponsored knitting event seemed a good idea. We also thought it was an event that could involve members of the wider community too, making it an inclusive event bringing people together because of theit love of knitting.

So we finally decided that we would hold a knit-a-thon with the aim of creating a multi-coloured, 60ft long scarf within the space of a few hours.

We were luck enough to persuade the Arden Arms in Stockport to host the event, and to get a large donation of yarn from Hobbycraft’s Stockport store, as well as from some generous local knitters who had yarn to spare.

The event is being held on Thursday 14th June, from 12.30pm to 9.00pm and we hope it will be a day of fun and fundraising for everyone! Please give Janette at SPARC a ring on 0161 429 9744 for more information, or email
